Breaking physiological barriers: from Edmund Hillary to Kilian Jornet

In 1900 it was thought that reaching the summit of Everest was an impossible mission. In 1953 Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay did it for the first time. In 2017 Kilian Jornet was promoted twice in less than a week. All these feats were born from the minds of physiologists who wondered if it was possible to do it. This article is a tribute to them.
